Thank you for taking the time to take an interest in our school here at Berrow.
There has been a primary school in Berrow for over 100 years and I am fortunate enough to follow in the footsteps of the many respected head teachers that have led the school before me.
I believe that every child deserves an inspiring education in a safe, stimulating and engaging environment, which encourages independent reflection.
I believe in providing exciting opportunities for children to engage in learning, both inside and outside of the classroom. Learning should be exciting, fun and real. Children should have opportunities to enjoy live theatre performances, view art galleries, museums and other educational establishments. This should be done with their friends, promoting discussion and a curiosity of the world in which they live now and that in the future. We introduce residential trips from Year 3 onward to enhance and develop key social skills, resilience, resourcefulness and self-confidence.
I believe in working closely with and supporting the local community. We are a church school and Christian Values lie at the heart of what we do. Members of St. Mary’s and Burnham Baptist Church are a valued element of life in school whether it is through teaching or supporting children’s learning opportunities.
We deliver a skills based creative curriculum which ignites children’s interest in the world around them, both locally and world wide and is underpinned with regular assessment so we know exactly how your child is progressing and what the next steps of their learning should be.
I believe every child should be valued and celebrated as an individual, as each and every one of us has something to offer. We should never be afraid to fail, because that is when we learn the most.
We are all role models and that respect for others is a fundamental life skill.
I believe that parents have a very important role to play in supporting their child as they learn through life. If your child is to succeed then we must work in partnership and as head teacher, I expect your full support.
I believe that we are supplying our children with skills for life and not just for secondary school. I am passionate about making a difference and in years to come I want our children to look back on their time in Berrow and be proud of their foundations. Children wear the Berrow Badge with pride.
I have a great team of staff and governors here. Each and every one of them has a part to play and is here because they believe in making a difference.
