PTA
“Some people want it to happen, some wish it to happen, others make it happen” – Michael Jordan
Our aim is simple:
To enhance and support every child’s experience during their time at Berrow Primary Church Academy—creating memories that last a lifetime
Who are we?
Run entirely by volunteers, our PTA operates as a charitable organisation registered with the Charities Commission as ‘Berrow School Association’.
“Be the change you want to see.”
Our volunteer PTA committee (elected November 2025) is made up of parents and carers of children currently attending Berrow Primary Church Academy:
• Chair: April Palmer
• Secretary / Vice Chair: Meg Griffiths
• Treasurer: Steff Osgood
• Committee Members: Sarah Johnson, Kerri Stacey, Lucinda Plimley, Shelley Patterson and Shona Brandon.
We work closely with the school to provide funding for requests throughout the year. Our fundraising will be supported by a variety of events, all of which will appear on our PTA Events Calendar. All committee members have voting rights on decisions within the PTA.
WE NEED YOU!!
Everyone is welcome, and all ideas—big or small—are valued.
We host termly meetings (dates published in advance) for anyone who would like to attend. We’ll also be holding informal coffee mornings if you’d just like to drop in, meet us, and learn more.
If you’re interested in joining the PTA or finding out more about what we do, we’d love to hear from you!
Email: ptaberrow@hotmail.co.uk or feel free to speak to any of us in the playground—we’re always happy to chat.
We also hold an Annual General Meeting (AGM) where we review the year and elect any new committee members.
What is a PTA?
PTA stands for Parent, Teacher Association, other names can include PA (Parent Association), PTSA (Parent, Teacher, Staff Association) and PTFA (Parent, Teacher, Friends Association). Friends of includes Parents, Carers, Guardians, Teacher and Staff and any person over the age of 18 offering appropriate support who is accepted by the committee as a member.
A PTA works with the school but is not governed by it.
PTAs that raise £5,000 or more a year must register as a charity, though many choose to register even if they raise less, to benefit from charitable status.
PTAs primarily fundraise for school-approved projects such as equipment, trips, enrichment activities or any other needs agreed by members. Each PTA sets its own aims and priorities
What are we raising money for?
Funds raised through our events will be used to support enrichment projects, purchase equipment, and fulfil requests from the school or its pupils.
Each year we review how funds will be allocated. Updates will be shared on our social media so you can clearly see how your support is making a difference.
What can you do to help?
As a parent or carer of a pupil attending the school you are automatically a general member of the PTA, Friends of Berrow Primary Church Academy. You can help us to put on events and raise money for projects that benefit the children and bring our community closer together.
Every contribution matters—no matter how big or small.
You might:
• Know someone who can support or sponsor an event
• Volunteer your time
• Offer a skill or resource
• Share an idea you’d love to see come to life #
