Sports Premium Funding
At Berrow, we recognise the contribution of PE to the health and well-being of the children. We believe that an innovative, varied PE curriculum and extra-curricular opportunities have a positive influence on the concentration, attitude and academic achievement of all our children. Our Primary School Sport’s Funding will enable us to increase the activity of individual children; to provide a wider range of activities; to enter more competitive sports competitions; to provide every child with opportunity to compete against children from other schools; to train our staff to deliver in-house quality PE sessions. We are also aiming to provide additional swimming lessons to our Year 6 children who do not meet the minimum requirements.
What is the Sports Premium?
The school Sport funding is being jointly provided by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport, and will see money going directly to primary schools to spend on improving the quality of sport and PE for all their children. Schools with 17 or more eligible pupils receive £16,000 and an additional payment of £10 per pupil. This will mean £18,000 will be available to Berrow School. The money can only be spent on sport and PE provision in schools, but we have the freedom to choose how we do this.
Please see below for how the Sports Premium has been used.
